The B40 Farmers Program
For the past 30 years, Aqina Farm has dedicated itself to the integrated production of poultry and the cultivation of MD2 pineapples, both in Malaysia and Singapore. As an agriculture company, we believe in the importance of putting our farmers' interests at the forefront of our operations. They are the backbone of our food production, and it is vital to prioritize their wellbeing in order to ensure a sustainable food supply chain.
In 2019, withholding that value to put farmer first, we embarked on a remarkable journey, laying the foundation for a social farming project. We leveraged our expertise and experience as best practice to create entrepreneurial opportunities in the agriculture industry. Recognizing the immense potential this framework held for rural areas, where many individuals yearned to establish their own businesses in their hometowns but lacked the necessary resources and guidance, we approached the State Government of Pahang and Agrobank with our proposal. And thus, the B40 Farmers Program was born.
Fast forward to 2022, and we take immense pride in our achievement of nurturing 20 farmers who were originally from the B40 income group. These farmers, through their dedication and hard work, produced a staggering 1.9 million tonnes of fruits that are now exporting to Middle Eastern countries and also locally. We are now in the process of recruiting an additional 40 aspiring commercial farmers, offering them a chance to embark on their own transformative journeys in their hometowns.

End Hunger, Achieve Food Security and Improved Nutrition and Promote Sustainable Agriculture
Aqina Farm adopted United Nation Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger which are important and relevant to our program.

Mechanisation of process will help ensure B40 farmers to achieve a higher and more productive yield. AI and other technology such as drone imaging are also used as part of our digitalisation approach. Farmers are able to access these resources to improve their productivity on site without investing firsthand - which would usually require a heavy capital expenditure upfront.
